Entrepreneurship: Here’s what successful entrepreneurs are made of

Entrepreneurs are true rebels, black sheep…the kind who refuse to accept the world, things and everything that surrounds them as is and have the innate need for self-actualization…burning desire to put a dent in the universe and make the most of themselves and their innate talents along the way.

I don’t know about you but I’m frankly a little tired from all the ignorant people who can’t help but judge and be envious of success of others. It seems that fame, money, influence and power are the only things they notice in today’s entrepreneurs who’ve made it big and live prosperous lives.

Often times I hear family, friends, business acquaintances and bystanders speak of how ‘lucky’ today’s successful entrepreneurs and business tycoons are for having achieved such enormous business success, practically ‘overnight’.

People tend to attribute success of others to luck and failure to ability or the lack thereof – but is that really fair thing to do?

Any hardcore entrepreneur who’s been grinding it out throughout his or her entrepreneurial journey will tell you that entrepreneurship isn’t for fainthearted. I mean, if you can’t deal with uncertainties on a daily basis and keep your sanity, do yourself a favor and stick with traditional 9-5 ‘modern slavery’ instead, for you’ll be better off.

You see, entrepreneurship is the way of life – it’s the mindset above all. It’s the way you think, eat, sleep, breathe, walk, talk and everything in between. As such, you can’t just wake up one morning and turn the switch on entrepreneurship, it doesn’t work like that. You either have it in you or you don’t.

Whatever the case may be, know with certainty that entrepreneurship isn’t sexy or cool as mainstream media wants to make it look, in fact entrepreneurship sucks! The reality of entrepreneurship is often very different from what we read on Entrepreneur, Huffington Post, Inc. and TechCrunch.

Entrepreneurship is often lonely, painful, stressful and grueling endeavor, especially at infancy of a startup when Murphy’s law is at work and everything than can go wrong does go wrong. Aspiring entrepreneurs armed with BIG why and staying power, find themselves overwhelmed and hopeless at times.

Getting punched in the face and having to get up and do it over again day in and day out simply becomes the way of life.

Only the most devoted and passionate entrepreneurs with truly BIG and meaningful why eventually endure all the grueling punishment of early months and manage to overcome various obstacles and setbacks they encounter. Makes you wonder what are these entrepreneurs made of?

Such entrepreneurs are true rebels, black sheep…the kind who refuse to accept the world, things and everything that surrounds them as is and have the innate need for self-actualization…burning desire to put a dent in the universe and make the most of themselves and their innate talents along the way.

These entrepreneurs see people, ideas and things not for who and what they are but who and what they can become. They are forward-looking visionaries who see infinite possibilities…creative and resourceful in their own unconventional way.

The BIG and meaningful why along with sense of purpose are their internal guiding principles, which come to rescue when the going gets tough to help them persevere and overcome any of the obstacle they may encounter on their entrepreneurial journey.

Surely then, such men and women deserve a praise and are well worthy of enviable success they ultimately achieve and the glory they bask in. Who is anyone to judge them or speak ill of them? Mere thought of it makes me really angry, for I too have been through all of the entrepreneurial loneliness, pain, punishment and suffering.

In hindsight though, I wouldn’t trade it for the world for in the end it was all well worth it. If I had a chance to do it over again, I’d do it in a heartbeat, for entrepreneurship is the way of life, you can’t fake it – I dare you.
